REAL ESTATE -- There goes the neighborhood
By DERRIK J. LANG -- The Associated Press
LYNWOOD, Wash. - Meet the residents of Oak Knoll, where homeowners have joined forces to sell the neighborhood to the highest bidder. Asking price: $35 million.
Together, over 33 families hope to turn their community just north of Seattle into a development deal worth top dollar - and evade the 60-foot-tall apartment complexes that have already begun to creep up on them.
Over the past few years, the area has experienced a transformation from sleepy suburban enclave near I-5 to a dense mixture of apartments, townhouses and businesses. Meet a handful of these homeowners to find out what's compelling them to simultaneously put their land up for sale in this asap interactive video presentation by DERRIK J. LANG and JENNI SOHN. --- See the interactive here: http://asap.ap.org/data/interactives/_lifestyles/oak/ --- Derrik J. Lang is an asap reporter. Jenni Sohn is an asap interactive designer. Both are based in New York. |
