EVERYTHING SACRED -- Porn & pancakes, evangelicals & Earth
By HILLARY RHODES -- The Associated Press
Porn and pancakes? Evangelicals and environmentalism?
Not natural pairs, these.

But the tides are always shifting in the world of religion, and these days, you never know what you'll find.

Pastor Craig Gross, the co-founder of the XXXChurch.com, travels around the country with former producers and performers from the pornography industry, discussing the cultural effects of adult entertainment on society.

Paul de Vries, the president of the New York Divinity School and an evangelical, promotes awareness of environmental issues such as global warming, on the premise that the world is God's creation and deserves protection.

A conversation with him is relevant as Harvard Biologist E. O. Wilson's new book hits the shelves. "The Creation: An Appeal to Save Life on Earth," is the plea from Wilson, a secular humanist, to fundamentalist Christians to take a look at the things threatening our planet's health.

"If there is any moral precept shared by people of all beliefs, it is that we owe ourselves and future generations a beautiful, rich, and healthful environment," Wilson writes in his introductory chapter, "Letter to a Southern Baptist Pastor: Salutation."
